Free plan, no credit card needed.

What slows contractors down

The problems, and how Quotup handles them

  • Estimates typed up at the kitchen table at 10pm

You measure during the day and write quotes at night. By the time yours arrives, the homeowner has heard from someone faster.

With Quotup: Build the quote on your phone during the walkthrough from saved items and your own rates, and send it before you leave the driveway.

  • Materials ordered on a verbal yes

A handshake isn't a commitment. When a customer backs out after you've ordered lumber, you're the one holding it.

With Quotup: Ask for a deposit percentage on the quote. The customer signs and pays the deposit in the same step, and you see it land before you place the order.

  • Extras agreed on site, forgotten at invoice time

"While you're here, can you also..." turns into a dispute when the final bill is higher than the original number.

With Quotup: Send each change as its own short quote. The customer approves it on their phone, so every extra is agreed in writing before you do the work.

A worked example

Example: quoting a 12x16 composite deck

Here's how a two-person deck company quotes a typical job in Quotup, from the site visit to the deposit, without going back to the office.

  1. 1

During the walkthrough, add the customer and pick the deck, railing, stairs and permit items from your saved catalog. Quantities come from your tape measure.

  2. 2

Set a 30% deposit, attach two site photos and keep your standard warranty and permit terms on the quote.

  3. 3

Send it by email from the driveway. You'll see when the homeowner opens it.

  4. 4

If they go quiet, Quotup follows up after 3 and 7 days so you don't have to.

  5. 5

They sign on their phone and pay the deposit by card or bank. Quotup creates the invoice with the deposit already applied, so the balance is waiting there when the deck is done.

FAQ

Questions from contractors

Something else? Ask us anything.

Can I take a deposit before I start the job?

Yes. Set a deposit percentage on the quote and the customer pays it online when they approve. Once you connect Stripe, the money goes straight to your account.

Can I write quotes on my phone at the job site?

Yes. Quotup works in your phone's browser and can be installed on your home screen like an app. Your saved items and customers are there too.

Can I add photos or drawings to a quote?

Yes. Attach up to 10 images or PDFs (10 MB each) to any quote. The customer sees them alongside the price.

What if the customer wants changes after approving?

You can reopen a quote as a draft, change it and send it again for a new signature, or send the extra work as a separate quote so the original stays as it was.

Does it work with QuickBooks?

Yes. Quotup can send customers, invoices and payments to QuickBooks Online, so your bookkeeper doesn't re-enter anything.
